Eat with ChaMike at Grounds of Alexandria.
Do you happen to stumble upon a picture of a place you found on your Instagram feed and while checking all those lovely photos, you vowed you'd visit it even if it's far from where you are. For me, the answer is yes, a lot of times and one of those times was this. I saw photos of The Grounds of Alexandria on a friend's account and I just couldn't help stalk the Instagram feed of @thegrounds. So of course, going here was on my #sydneygoals.
Grounds of Alexandria is a cafe more than anything else. It's known for serving one of the best coffees in Sydney. But apart from that, The Grounds is being flocked by guests for its great food and atmosphere.
How to get to Grounds of Alexandria
Alight St Peter's Station, head towards King St, and cross directly onto Sydney Park Road, follow this road down, and at the round-a-bout stay straight and go onto Huntley St. Follow this down for approx. 450m and The Grounds will be on you right.
We realized walking from St Peter's Station to the Grounds was a bit far. It's one of those long walks that you start thinking if you're still on the right track because you walked way too long already. Hence the reason why we decided to get a cab when we went back to the station.

They have here several areas you can rent out for private functions such as weddings, birthdays and any special occasions. These function areas are definitely one of my wedding reception pegs!

The Potting Shed
This is my preferred dining area. Compared to the Cafe, the Potting Shed closes late, as late as 11pm depending on the day. The ambiance here is sunny and cosy with lush greenery everywhere, still the rustic atmosphere is pretty evident. They serve entrees and beers and cocktails for guests who want to have fun.
Opening Hours
Monday to Thursday | 11:30 am - 9:30 pm
Friday | 11:30 am - 11:00 pm
Saturday | 11:00 am - 11:00 pm

Because we were not here to drink alcohol (besides we had one more place to visit and it was just lunch time) we just ordered entrees and juices.

My order. It was indeed fresh and tasted wholesome. It was good especially the bread and of course I loved the presentation. I think they're experts in that field already.

If you've read my Wedding Proposal post you'll remember this place, as this was where we went before going to Manly Beach. Here, they have free WiFi so Mike was so stressed the whole time as I might find out his plans.

#ChaMike's remembrance before our engagement |
During weekends The Grounds is more busy as they have a food and flower market around the vicinity, making it a very busy place (be prepared to wait for hours they say). Even if we weren't able to witness the weekend market, we were still satisfied with our experience at The Grounds of Alexandria and yes the long walk was worth the trip.
