Walk With ChaMike

Monday, February 29, 2016

Hi everyone!

This is Mike. If you’ve been “Walking With Cham” these past few years, you probably know me as the other half of #ChaMike
Cham has always wanted me to write an entry in this blog. I’ve never written a blog nor do I have any plans of creating one in the future. But today is the 29th of February and this date only happens once every 4 years so I wanted to do something special for my favorite travel buddy who I’ve been with for 4 years.

As you are reading this, I’m actually “walking with Cham” around Sydney, Australia. She doesn’t know a thing about this at all so let this be our little secret until I let her read this.

I had been thinking about a topic for this blog for quite a while and I realized that since this is a travel blog, I should share my most fun trip of all – the journey of how #ChaMike began.

Our story can be summed up in one sentence: “I loved her even before I met her.”

Yes. It was love before first sight and this was the picture that started it all.

4 years ago, I saw Cham for the very first time in this photo pinned on the cubicle of one of my officemates. And instantly, I kid you not, I fell in love with her. I hadn’t even seen her in person that time nor had I heard about her. I wasn’t even sure who she was, what she was like as a person and all but what I was certain about was my feelings about her.

She was the girl I wanted to be more than friends with. She was the one who made me believe in love again. And I fell in love not because I had just seen a pretty face I got attracted to but because for some unexplainable reason, during that special moment, I felt that I found my soulmate.

And after 4 years, all I can say is that I was right about that feeling.

When you meet a girl who always makes you smile just by looking at you.

A woman, who would go distances just to make her man happy & proud.

And a person who shows all her emotions – Joy, Anger, Sadness, Fear & Disgust and no matter what, you still love her “Inside Out.”

Then I can tell you, you’ve probably met the one. And fortunately for me,
what I had written months before I saw her on that picture came true.

To all the readers and followers of #WalkWithCham, I’d like to thank you for walking with us in all our trips.

We’ve traveled to some of the most beautiful places in the Philippines.

We’ve had the opportunity to visit countries we only dreamt of going to.

But the farthest, longest and most important trip of all has been this trip to forever.

Cham, I know it’s taking forever…just like how long you and all girls spend their time in Forever 21 while boys like us wait “patiently” outside the store. But, at least I believe in forever.

And finally, after all the delayed flights, it’s now time (and for you I guess, “it’s about time!” hahaha). I’m excited to go on the biggest adventure yet with the love of my life. I’m ready to #WalkWithChamDownTheAisle.

I’d like to thank Cham’s family for their blessing as well as my family for all the love, trust and support they’ve shown us over the years.

And to Cham, thank you for existing in this world. Thank you for being a real person and not just an image on a photograph. There is nobody in the world, ‘the universe rather,’ whom I want to spend the rest of my life with. Only you and it has always been you even before I met you.

The 29th of February only happens once every 4 years. And on this leap year, today, I’m making the biggest leap of my life as I’m going to ask my girlfriend for 4 years the most important question of all…

Marie Charmaine T. Estrera, my soul “mayt!,” I love you so much, will you marry me?
