Double Birthday Celebration at Midas Hotel and Casino

Staycationing

After celebrating my birthday with Mike at Sofitel Hotel and with my friends at Holiday Inn Manilathis time before September ended, I spent a weekend with the FAMBAM. Of course, any birthday would not be complete if it won't be celebrated with the family. My Papa who was also a September baby agreed to a staycation at Midas Hotel and Casino.

So why Midas? For two reasons: First, I highly recommend their Sabroso! Lunch/Dinner Buffet which I already tried and would love to share the experience with my family. Second, my cousin, Glenn Dizon is one of the managers and offered me a good deal- a Midas Gold Club Membership. Sooooo what is this Gold Club Membership all about? Read on...

Midas Gold Club Membership
For P6,000 I get a Gold Card valid for 1 year along with free overnight stay at a Deluxe Room, breakfast buffet for two and lunch/dinner for two which would cost up to P10,000 already. Quite an affordable deal, right?! That's not all, it has tons of benefits and privileges like 50% discount every time you book deluxe rooms on an UNLIMITED basis, discounts on Food and Beverages, benefits when going to Misibis Bay and several vouchers are included that can help you save when you book or dine there.

Midas Hotel and Casino was the former Hyatt Hotel then later became Midas Hotel and Casino the year 2011. It is the first hotel that you'll see when you are coming from EDSA going to Roxas Boulevard (it is also just right beside the Japanese Embassy). Because it stands in the area, it's famous for having a majestic view of the sunset.

Staycation at this boutique hotel
It was a Saturday when we went there so parking was a bit of a problem but the security helped us look for available slots.

Lobby
Midas Hotel and Casino is a boutique hotel and if you haven't heard, I'm a fan of boutique hotels. The lobby was not that big but very impressive. The interior is so chic and modern giving it an intimidating but welcoming ambience. You'll see Hermes inspired designs almost everywhere, the orange boxes of different sizes made this hotel stand out. They also have nice floral arrangements and TWG teas on display giving it a more relaxed vibe.

Executive Suite
Originally we were booked at a Deluxe Room but because we wanted to stay somewhere more elegant and spacious we decided to use the voucher- Upgrade to Executive Suite. The room is located at the 9th floor, it so luxurious with a classic royal feel. It has two twin size beds and a plush day bed perfect for the 5 of us- Me, Mama, Papa, Kuya, Ate Angge (Kuya's girlfriend) and Gael (Kuya's son & my sweet nephew).

Two Comfy Twin Size Beds

Plush Day Bed

Room Amenities
Cable LCD TV, complimentary water, telephone, complimentary WiFi, iPod dock and speaker, flat iron, room safe, coffee and tea making facility, refrigerator, mini bar, bathrobe, slippers & hairdryer.

Flat screen TV, Bottled Water, Phone, iPod Dock

Iron, Bath Robe, Slippers, Coffee and Tea Making Facility, Mini Bar

Toilet and Bath
I so love this area! It's so classy, the Bvlgari toiletries screams luxury. Aside from the Bvlagari shampoo, conditioner, bath gel, bar soap and lotion other toiletries include toothpaste, toothbrush, shower cap, razor kit, comb, sanitary bag and vanity kit.

Lavatory

Toiletries & blow dry

But what I love most about their bathroom is their toilet! I actually gushed over the Japanese toilet, I suddenly remembered my Japan trip where I got super aliw with the toilet seat. Japanese toilet seat not only has a bidet but also has a feminine wash, heated seat and dryer you can also adjust the water pressure depending on your likeness- ang galing galing!

Shower and Tub and the Japanese toilet seat!

Balcony
The balcony was also a surprise. It was huge! Giving us the bestest view of the cityscape and sunset.

Sunset Lounge
Guests at the executive floors has an exclusive access at the Sunset Lounge located at the 9th floor. They offer gourmet snacks, hors d'oeuvres and non alcoholic drinks from 4pm-8pm.

The selection was ample and to tell you honestly the food served here can also be your dinner- ahem ahem, ultimate tipid tip.

Happy Tummies :)

To truly appreciate the Sunset Lounge, you have to be here before night time so you can witness the lavish drama of Manila Bay sunset. It's soooo BEAUTIFUL!

Majestic!!! <3

Located at the Midas Cafe, Sabroso is Midas' unique dining offering. Each month Sabroso celebrates different cuisines per region. It started last August (Naimas) where dishes from Northern Luzon were featured. The month of September (Masiram) features Southern Luzon signature favorites from Marinduque to Legazpi. You can check my previous post for more information.

Fambam! Mama, Papa, Kuya, Gael, Ate Angge, Mike and Me

We also asked the staff to surprise my Papa with a birthday song and their complimentary birthday cake. :)

Happy Birthday, Papa!!!

After Dinner Bonding
Obviously all of us were BUSOG! So we went back at our room and watched the Saturday episode of I DO :) If you were wondering what our sleeping arrangement was - Bed 1: Mama and Papa, Bed 2: Kuya, Ate Angge and Gael, Day Bed: Cham (Mike left na after I DO)

Good thing the staff were very courteous and attended ALL our needs may it be additional comforters, towels, slippers & bottled water and also fixed our WiFi (they have very fast internet connection and no password needed by the way)

Breakfast Buffet
The very next day it was me and Mama who woke up early to enjoy the breakfast buffet which is also located at Midas Cafe. I ate ALOT! and a lot means- eggs, cereals, hash brown, tapa, longganisa, tocino, daing, french toast, all sorts of pastries plus BACONS! hahaha! Because we love their bacons and would want to eat more of it. I asked the staff if they still had bacons and he told me he will check in the kitchen and so while waiting my Mama told me that we shouldn't expect for the bacons as he will not come back but right after that the waitstaff appeared handing us a plate full of freshly cooked bacons! Wow, we're impressed! Winner talaga ang customer service nila!

Breakfast selections

Another tipid tip! Eat a lot during breakfast so you won't get hungry during lunchtime. That has always been my habit whenever I travel (wink wink!)

Breakfast person!

Yummers!!!

We didn't get to try the Casino (because none of us are gamblers!- hehehe) But nonetheless we ultimately enjoyed our stay here and I recommend you to experience Midas Hotel & Casino. It's also quite popular with celebrities, we saw Will Devaugn with girlfriend, Roxanne Barcelo and the ultimate heartthrob Papa Piolo Pascual during our stay.

Checking out was not a rush as all Executive guests have the privilege to check out at 2pm! Hallelujah!!!

I would like to thank Kuya Glenn for an amazing experience! Hands down to the over-the-top customer service of Midas Hotel! Everyone's nice, courteous and helpful. Too bad we failed to have a picture taken with you. :( But I'm pretty sure this won't be the last.

  2. Hi Cham. I came across your website when researching Midas hotel. I already booked a reservation. On your previous review you stated Lunch from 11:30am - 2:30pm and Dinner 6:00pm -10:00pm. I absolutely enjoy this review regarding breakfast buffet. Can you tell me what time it starts and ends? Thank you =)

    2. HI Cham. This is my first time traveling to the Philippines. Midas Hotel does not have a email contact only a phone number. I am unable to call. Would you be so kind and ask Glenn the following.

      1. I will arrive at the airport by 8:00pm will Midas allow me to check in late? If so, how late? I ask because I read traffic can be horrible.

      2. I booked a my reservation from Expedia.com for 2 people, Deluxe room, with Breafast buffet included. There were no option to request for 2 beds. I did add this to the notation. "Extra bed" "Non Smoking" , will these simple request be granted?

      3. I purchased the package with buffet breakfast included. How do my guest and I redeem the offer? At check in or at the entrance to the buffet?

Thank you sooooooo much Cham keep up the good work :)
