Long Weekend Ilocos Roadtrip at Kapurpurawan Rock Formation.

Kapurpurawan Rock Formation

Further north of Burgos is one of the best attractions in town. Kapurpurawan Rock Formation is a must-see destination in Ilocos Norte.

It was a short 15 minute walk from our drop of point and while walking we passed by a statue of Ang Biag ni Lam-Ang. If you recall your Filipino literature subject, Ang Biag ni Lam-Ang (Life of Lam-Ang) is an epic poem of the Ilocano people. He is said to be an extraordinary being and famous for his death being eaten up by a giant fish. Tour guide said that it was a new addition in the area.

And after a few meters we finally saw mother nature's divine creation, Kapurpurawan Rock Formation was a pure beauty. At first I thought that it was made of hard white sand because of its delicate design & pure color, but I was very wrong, it truly is made of rock, how amazing!

mother nature is an artist
Kapurpurawan came from the word puraw an Ilocano word which means white. It was named as such because of the white color of the rock specially on broad daylight. It was already dawn when we visited so the view was even more mesmerizing.

The rock formation is 100% nature's work, it is said to be formed thousands or even millions of years ago by the sea waves, wind and mother nature's work of art.

Before, getting close to the rock formation was allowed but now it was prohibited due to the foot marks that caused some of the areas to darken. So we were only allowed at a certain view point.

Though our tour guide, Joey of Travel Ventours suggested we walk at the back part of the rock formation where we can go near the area. So here I am having solo shots at the majestic place.

This place was indeed exceptional! Visiting the rock formation I was able to appreciate the beauty of nature and God's creation. Kapurpurawan Rock Formation should not be missed.
