Long Weekend Ilocos Roadtrip at Malacanang of the North

Malacanang of the North

Another tourist attraction in Paoay, Ilocos Norte is Ferdinand Marcos and his family's residence which is called Malacanang of the North or Malacanang ti Amianan in Ilocano.

Paoay Map from wikipedia

Spanish Colonial House

Malacanang of the North served as the official residence of the First Family every time they were in Ilocos, it is a two storey mansion within a 5-hectare property overlooking Paoay Lake

After Marcos' death, this was transformed into a museum and is now under the management of Department of Tourism. Entrance fees are very cheap, P20 for adults and P10 for children. Our fee was shouldered by Travel Ventours.

Grand Staircase

The place was huge & spacious with minimalist but expensive Filipino furniture and interiors. You can see capiz windows everywhere

And because of the typhoon, the place had no electricity the time we went. Too bad as I didn't get to appreciate some of the rooms especially Marcos' office.

Dark Office

All furniture has the sign 'thank you for not sitting' however I saw certain chairs without any sign so I immediately asked my Mama to take a picture of me while seating on the chair and just when she pressed the shutter, Mamang caretaker called my attention and this was what the picture looked like.

Sorry po but there was no sign :)

Museum Hours:
