ChaMike Heritage Tour: BERNARDINO JALANDONI ANCESTRAL HOUSE

Also called the Pink House that epitomizes typical nipa hut houses but only bigger, it is just along the street of Rizal so it is just easy to locate

Owned by Mr & Mrs Antonio J. Montinola, second to the eldest son of Angeles Jalandoni Montinola, the only daughter of Don Bernardino Jalandoni and Ysabel Ledesma-Jalandoni. It was eventually turned over to the Silay Heritage Foundation, Inc. as a venue for educational and cultural activities of Silay. Their daughter had a huge liking to the color pink which was also the reason why this house had a peculiar pink color exterior.

This is the last stop of our ChaMike Heritage Tour, the entrance fee is also P50 and you  have to book in advance for a sure guided tour. A lady dressed in a Filipiniana costume, forgot to catch his name, was our tour guide.

First Floor
Is an almost bare area where you can only see a karwaje, a karitela and some antique furniture.

Receiving area, wooden scupltur, hat and barton stand, and weaving machine

Second Floor
Like any other elite houses from the past, the second floor is where the main rooms where located. Living room, dining room, bedrooms and kitchen. The artistic wooden transom near the ceiling is inspired by French design which also served as air ventilation.
