Swimming in BANTAYAN ISLAND, CEBU
Tuesday, August 28, 2012Bantayan Island is one of the pristine beaches in Cebu, it's a small island off the northwest coast where the town is quiet.
It was my Kuya's idea to go here for our Cebu family getaway but then backed out because of his workload. So it's Me, Gin & my parents who pushed thru with the plan.
To get there, you can ride a bus from the city to Hagnaya Port, or you can also rent a van like what we did (P5,000 round trip). Travel time was 3 hours.
From the port you will then ride a boat to Sta. Fe, Bantayan for 1 hour which costs P170.
We stayed at Sta Fe Beach Club and rented a beach front airconed room with 10% discount, thank you to Tita Siob of Mike (her relatives are the owner of the place).
The beach is serene & relaxing, perfect for soul-searching.
Before dipping, we rented a scooter & went for a little town tour to eat lunch. (Note: My Papa was very eager to rent kaya nag rent agad siya ng motorcycle sa mga locals dun, we then on realized that he was scammed so be extra careful when talking to them, better ask the resort about your rental plans)
Lunch at HR Restaurant, one of the nearest restaurants from the resort.
Swimming time :)
They served Pinoy dishes
They have billiard pool too

Another unique thing about Bantayan is their celebration of Holy Week, that instead of fasting they eat lechon contrary to what others do. In 1800 daw kasi, fishermen were not allowed to go fishing on Good Friday thus eating meat was permitted by a papal which carried the tradition on until today.
On my next Cebu visit, I hope to go to Malapascua Island, it is dubbed to be Boracay 15 years ago.
